Transforming a Legacy Archive Into a Modern, Dynamic Platform

Some projects are simple refreshes. This one required true engineering.

Friends of Jewish Heritage in Poland (FJHP) partnered with us to modernize an aging website containing years of historical and cultural content. Their existing site was built on legacy structures, with static HTML pages, outdated navigation patterns, and URL conventions that had been referenced, bookmarked, and shared widely across heritage communities.

The challenge was to rebuild the entire experience—modern, accessible, dynamic—without losing history, usability, or search integrity.

From Static HTML to a Dynamic, Scalable Architecture

The previous site used hundreds of individual static pages, each hand-built. In contrast, the new Wix Studio version uses a fully dynamic Content Management System, turning what was previously a manually updated collection of pages into a structured, flexible architecture.

We created:

  • A unified “Locations” CMS powering all towns, synagogues, and heritage sites

  • A scalable dynamic template that instantly generates new pages when FJHP adds new records

  • Clean, modern routing that aligns with best practices for readability and SEO

  • A consistent visual and content framework, ensuring every location page is structured and presented uniformly

This modernization ensures the organization can maintain and grow the site easily—without needing a developer for each new addition.

Redirect Engineering: 102 Hand-Mapped Legacy URLs

Because so many visitors arrive through older links shared across the web, preserving search integrity was critical.

We implemented a broad redirect strategy to ensure that legacy URLs continued to function. This prevented broken links, reduced visitor confusion, and told search engines how to properly route users to the new structure.

This redirect work was carefully planned and executed so older links now lead seamlessly into the new system.

User Experience and Content Accuracy

Several parts of the experience were rebuilt to create clarity and consistency:

  • Navigation was restructured for ease of use

  • Visual hierarchy was improved to allow visitors to move naturally through content

  • Location pages were updated to correctly reflect whether a site is a cemetery, synagogue, or other heritage location

  • Donation flows were made more intuitive

  • Contact forms were validated to ensure messages and inquiries reach the right people

The result is an experience that feels trustworthy, organized, and aligned with the nonprofit’s mission.

Training & Support for the FJHP Team

This project didn’t end at launch. We provided clear, structured training for the team so they can confidently update pages, manage new content, and maintain the site over time. The goal was to ensure their staff could operate independently after handoff.

Client Feedback

The foundation shared the following review about their experience:

“At every moment, they envisioned, articulated and delivered an exciting and coherent new website for us—a small non-profit. They were able to imagine and deliver far beyond our imagination and beyond our capacities and they stayed with us throughout the project with immense and courteous attention to detail and responsivity to our needs, even after launch. I am glad that we found them and grateful to every member of their team for the highest quality of work.”

This feedback means the world to us—and speaks to the partnership behind the work.

The Final Result

  • Modern, accessible, and mobile-friendly

  • Powered by a flexible CMS designed for future growth

  • Structured for long-term search stability

  • Easier for visitors to navigate

  • Easier for FJHP to maintain internally

  • Faithful to the organization’s history and mission

This rebuild is more than a website—it’s a digital foundation for preserving memory, culture, and education for years to come.
