When You and Guardian Farm and Illustrated Domain Intersect - we can do good together.
I want to share an update for Pascuala’s family.
As many of you know from our last email, Pascuala’s younger brother, Washington, underwent emergency brain surgery after being admitted to the hospital with bleeding in his brain. The surgery has now taken place. We are grateful to share that it went well, but he remains hospitalized and is still unable to speak while doctors carefully monitor his condition. The outcome, long-term effects, and timeline for recovery are still unknown.
Washington is 35 years old and the father of two young daughters, ages 8 and 3. His family lives in a rural farming community and depends entirely on agricultural work to survive. When he became seriously ill, his condition deteriorated rapidly. He was transported from Maras Mullakas to Cusco and admitted to the Regional Hospital, where he remains under care.
Because of the seriousness of the situation, we immediately passed all donated funds directly to Pascuala. Thanks to your generosity, $761.93 USD was raised and given in full to her family (we did not subtract the PayPal fees), helping to cover urgent medical costs, transportation, daily living needs, and care for the children during this critical period.
For families like Pascuala’s, support like this has an impact that is difficult to put into words. Living on only a few hundred dollars a month, they have little access to financial safety nets or outside help. In moments like this, the burden can feel crushing. Your generosity has helped lift that weight and provided stability where there may otherwise have been fear and hopelessness.
That said, the need has not ended.
Washington remains hospitalized, expenses continue to grow, and the family is still navigating enormous uncertainty. If you feel moved to continue supporting them, donations are still being accepted and will go directly to the family, with only standard PayPal processing fees deducted.
If you are able to donate or share the link, it truly helps.
If you’re unable to donate, sharing this post is just as meaningful.
Pascuala is a long-term and deeply loved member of our community. Anyone who has visited the farm knows her kindness, her care for others, and the quiet strength she brings to everything she does. Standing with her during this time has been emotional for all of us, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who has shown up for her and her family.
Thank you for your compassion, your generosity, and your willingness to care.
